FIRE STATION 14/6

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA

The primary design objective was to harmoniously fit the new Fire Station into the fabric of an established residential neighborhood, while also meeting the functional needs of the Fire Bureau.  The scale and architectural features of surrounding homes are reflected, and a living environment that is more residential than institutional is provided since firefighters occupy Fire Station 14/6 on 24 hour shifts. Significant emphasis on active and passive solar energy design features has also been achieved for this award winning project.
